My Story

This is your Captain speaking

Welcome to my aviation weblog. My name is Seng-Keat Chew. I'm living in the city state call Singapore but I was originally from Malaysia. I have always had a serious interest in planes and in airliners in particular, I remember as a kid when my dad got me 2 toy planes. One of them was printed in Pam Am color and another one was a space shuttle called "Discovery" - from then on I was fascinated with those noisy machines that flew in the sky. As I grew up, I was always fortunate to be able to fly in an airplane because my dad is working oversea and my mom often visited him together with me. My mom told me that I am a frequent flyer since I am 2 months old.
I have been a keen collector now for some years. It all started when I found a hobby shop in KLCC and there were many small jets in many scale from Herpa Wings & Dragon. Back then it was very expensive for my ages. Everytime I went to the mall I will go in to the shop and take a look of all the different airlines and aircrafts. I still remember that I was so determine to save my pocket money to buy a Singapore Airlines Boeing 747-400. I was so happy to bring it back home.
There are only few shops in Malaysia selling die-cast models, so thanks for the internet and online shopping. Now I am able to collect die-cast models easily by just sitting at home and buy my favorite models at a click. It has since been a collection of over 50 planes and still growing!!

My collection is mainly in scale 1:500. Generally of Starjets, Herpa, Hogan, Netmodels and C&C. In the beginning , my aim was to collect one airliners of each type, but this has changed to airlines mostly from Asian countries, and later it also include Europe, U.S, Russia and Middle East. As in all sorts of collecting, you can't buy it all - this is true in my case, now I has to limit myself to only buy the models that I can't live without.....But this is also way enough.
A couple years ago, I brought a Herpa complete airport set and started to build my model airport. The purpose with this website is to have pictures of my models in a realistic environment such as my model airport. I am planning to change and redesign my airport in the future when I have enough time but currently I don't have enough time to change the original plan. Maybe after I retire.....
The project regarding taken pictures of the planes has become a new dimension of the hobby - it has been a fun part too, with all the barriers to climb with the goal of crisp pictures. Be aware that the pictures of the aircraft can't beat the real thing of holding one of the models in your own hand. It's an experience that can be quite addictive.

So takeoff and enjoy the flight.

Seng-Keat
